Ivory Sedge (Carex eburnea)

Light:

Sun or shade

Flowering:

Seedheads in late spring

Soil:

Any well drained soil

Height:

6 inches

Color:

Green seedheads turning to dark brown

Hardiness:

Very hardy native. Zone 2.

Uses:

Edging, ground cover, shade beds

Care:

Should definitely be more widely used. Tolerates drought, shade, poor soils. Fine textured, spreading but not invasive. Plus, I've read that it is deer resistant. Perhaps a nice alternative to Penn Sedge.

Native:

Yes
